What would be the best choice of web hosting package for a new website?
We keep getting this question from our clients, and there is no one answer fits all the cases.
Before we go further in answering this question, I would like to highlight the main configurations available now days:
1. Shared Hosting
2. Dedicated Servers
3. Private Cloud Servers
There are also some Hybrid configurations combine more than one type to fulfil special and complex requirements (thats beyond the coverage of this post, and may be will discuss in some other posts later).
Returning back to the question, the answer is one of the 3 types of configurations mentioned above. To help you identify which configuration is suitable for you, you need to answer some other questions:
1. How many visitors you will have at the launching time?
2. What would be the increase in visitors in 1 year time?
3. What would be the expected increase in visitors in 2 years time?
If your initial expected visitors per day is less than 500 visitors then Shared hosting would be enough.
If your visitors are reaching 2000 visitors per day (in avarage), then you need to consider moving towards private cloud or dedicated servers.
cloud server would be the 1st choice as you can start with single core and 1GB - 2GB RAM package, then upgrade gradually the number of cores and the memory to meet the increasing requirements.
