Tech-City Dubai to redefine itself as the ‘Smart City’

Dubai is presently the technology hub for the Middle East. The city is not only famous for economic boom, but also famous for technological boom. When it comes to the hi-tech cities of the world, Dubai definitely stays amongst the top ten.

Government officials presented a wide range of projects to ruler Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that are aimed at turning Dubai into what they're calling a "smart city" ahead of its hosting of the 2020 World Expo.

At a flashy event reminiscent of a Silicon Valley product rollout, they laid out plans for Wi-Fi access in city parks, buses and taxis. Also, there will be systems for the drivers to find the parking zones. There will be schemes to connect solar panels to the electric grid and a network of charging stations for electric cars.
